Modern Tribal Style Moroccan Rug N12335 10'9" × 17'4" $22,000
$22,000
Although presently made, this modern rug carries a design that was developed centuries ago by nomadic tribes wandering the deserts of Morocco. It is modeled on Beni Ourains – shaggy tribal rugs which were highly acclaimed by the mid-20th century modernists, and since then, have been an indispensable element of the most fashionable interiors around the world.
The main field of the modern Moroccan rug carries the iconic pattern of slightly lax diamonds. In tribal design, a diamond symbolizes protection against the Evil Eye. Traditionally, Beni Ourains have black motifs and an off-white field. Here we have a modern twist – the irregular grid is rendered in light grey against a beige background. The composition is finished on one side with tassels.
This modern Moroccan rug was made in accordance with traditional techniques to ensure its quality and uniqueness. Carefully hand-knotted out of high-quality wool, it is distinguished by durability and a soft pile. Under the condition of proper maintenance, it will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
Moroccan rugs, in their variety of textures, colors, and designs have stood the test of time. They are a classic staple in both classic and modern interiors. Our modern Moroccan rugs are handmade by artisans in small, specialized workshops, following the centuries-old tradition. They are handmade of natural undyed wool or of wool colored with natural dyes. Their designs are either of vintage tribal inspiration or traditional with an original twist, designs exclusive to Doris Leslie Blau.
