Arthur Dunnam

A Louisiana native, after completing his undergraduate degree in Virginia, Arthur Dunnam came to New York in 1980 to attend the graduate design program at Pratt Institute. While at Pratt he was fortunate to work at the firm founded by the legendary decorator Billy Baldwin.

“My eyes were opened to a completely new level of style, comfort, and elegance. Being able to see some of the most spectacular residences in the U.S. and around the world first hand – and to begin to understand some of what made them such – was a real jump start to my maturing as a designer. Incredible carpets were frequently a key component in many of the rooms I saw.”

Arthur was named design director of Jed Johnson Associates in 1997 after having worked directly with Jed for ten years. As design director his projects embrace a broad array of styles and periods. ” I am drawn to the best of the past infused with the quiet restraint, and often sculptural quality of 20th century furnishings.”

Arthur Dunnam’s prolific work has been documented in a number of design books, E-zines, and shelter magazines and periodicals, including Architectural Digest, House and Garden, Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, Hamptons Cottages and Gardens and the New York Times.
