Rare Vienna Secession Rug in Ruby Red BB7809 13'0" × 18'3" $100,000

$100,000

A fine wool rug, hand-knotted in the Austrian Empire at the turn of the 20th century. Distinguished by clean lines combining architectural elements with natural elements, this vintage Viennese Art Nouveau rug is a marvelous hallmark of its époque. Its ample ruby-red and rosé main field carrying a discreet design with botanical motifs is enclosed within a flowing jade-green and garnet frame and an ample floral border. Although rich in details, the composition has a palpable lightness to it.
