Antique Oushak Runner BB6491 2'4" × 15'0" $5,000
$5,000
The monumental scale, relaxed structure and playful palette of Turkish antique Oushak rugs ensure that they remain a favorite within the pantheon of decorative antique oriental rugs. This antique Oushak runner is a paragon of the refined Turkish craftsmanship, suitable for corridors, staircases as well as ample and transitional rooms. Its main field is adorned with a medallion-based, geometric pattern with botanical motifs, including the characteristic ‘paisley’, in Turkey also known as ‘buta’. It is worth noting that the most popular designs of oriental rugs, i.e. ‘star’ and ‘medallion’ originated in Usak. The main field is enclosed within a series of equally compelling borders matching the overall spirit of the elongated carpet. In terms of the color palette, the piece is absolutely unobtrusive and balanced, with predominance of beige residing on the background, and subtle tones of aquamarine and taupe finished with a warm brown lining. The antique Oushak runner was masterfully hand-knotted of the finest wool in a centuries-old weaving technique by a skilled artisan. These qualities allowed it to survive until this day without any signs of wear or damage. It will easily match a wide variety of contemporary interior décors, bringing in the timeless elegance and warmth of the Oriental craft.
