A highly-decorative late 19th century antique Hereke Turkish rug, the brick red field with an overall spacious trellis of fine vinery, intricate curving leaves and expressive palmettes overall within a gray palmette and leaf border.

Originally intended to furnish palaces, Hereke antique oriental rugs were made throughout the 1800’s. To fit their palatial purposes, Hereke rugs are not only made of cotton, wool, or silk, but many also feature threads of gold or silver.
