Authentic Turkish Ghiordes Hand Knotted Wool Carpet

A classical late 19th-century Turkish Ghiordes (Giordes) rug, the dusty rose field with delicate reciprocal flowers overall around a triangle-formed lozenge medallion containing a sand centerpiece within a geometric motif and angular vine border.

Since the beginning of their production in the 18th century, Turkish rugs from the Anatolian town, Ghiordes have mostly been known for their rectilinear, colorful, multi-bordered antique prayer patterns. Ghiordes rugs often have open fields with mihrabs or hanging lamps and stylized architectural motifs that are found on sixteenth and seventeenth-century Ottoman antique rugs.
