A late 19th century antique Turkish Ghiordes Rugs, the camel field with vines forming an enlarged diamond lattice containing palmettes, flowering branches and scattered floral motifs within a sea blue flowerhead and raceme border.
Since the beginning of their production in the 18th century, Turkish carpets from the Anatolian town, Ghiordes have mostly been known for their rectilinear, colorful, multi-bordered antique prayer patterns. Ghiordes antique rugs often have open fields with mihrabs or hanging lamps and stylized architectural motifs that are found on sixteenth and seventeenth century Ottoman court rugs for sale.
