Antique Persian Meshad Blue, Beige, Brown Handmade Wool Rug BB4000 12'4" × 14'4" $100,000
$100,000
This hand woven Mashad rug immediately draws attention with its complex all over pattern. On the central field we can see a huge variety of flowers that are connected to each other via slender stems. Floral motif seems to be also present on the rug’s frame, however it has a different form. Instead of controlled chaos we have a very organized composition that seems to almost contrast with the main pattern. The frame itself is composed of multiple elements and delights with its attention to even the smallest details. Color palette consists mostly of yellows and brilliant blue with highlights of black and beige.
Antique rugs are ‘jufti’ knotted, a technique used in antique Khorassan carpets and Antique Persian rugs as well. With a good supply of soft wool and high quality craftsmen, Meshad has had a reputation as one of the most prolific, creative, and highly stylized sources of beautiful Persian carpets making them easily identified throughout the centuries.
