Antique Karabagh Rug BB4646

Price: $7,000

An early 20th century Russian Karabagh rug, the light brown field with an allover beige trellis of floral vinery linked at fixed intervals by simple diamond shapes within a delicate beige flowering vinery border with four brown palmette accents.

Nowadays carpets from Central Asia are gaining more and more attention. This is hardly surprising considering their impeccable quality and stunning patters, however, few can be considered equals with famed Karabagh antique oriental rugs. Named after Karabagh region, located in Azerbaijan, those oriental Caucasian rugs were added to UNESCO’s list of Representative Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage in a gesture of appreciation. Indeed, they are a vital part of Azerbaijani culture, just like Persian carpets are for Iran.
