Vintage Indian Amritsar Carpet BB4250
An early 20th century Indian Amritsar antique rug, the abrashed tan field with an allover trellis of intricate flowering vines and small palmettes within a pair of narrow cocoa scrolling vinery stripes between a series of minor stripes.
One of the common patterns of vintage Indian rugs are naturalistic floral designs – this feature is typical for amritsar carpets woven in the time of Jahangir’s reign. Millefleurs motif can also be found on Indian carpets.
