Extra Large Persian Kirman Antique Rug

Extra Large Persian Kirman Antique Rug Description:

This circa-1920 antique Persian Kirman rug features an elaborate all-over design of floral motifs, arabesques, palmettes and curving vinery in shades of dark beige and blue against a field of light beige. The antique rug has a muted patina that is characteristic of classic Oriental rug weaving. A main border of abrashed blue containing more flower abstractions surrounds and completes the look of the early 20th century antique carpet. Antique Kirman carpets are sought-after collectors' items for a number of reasons, including their broad range of designs, an elaborate palette, use of natural dyes and fibers, great tensile strength and expert color combinations. The rugs are typically cotton-foundation with high knot densities, and frequently have intricate all-over floral patterns - as seen in this particular carpet. Golam Hussein, Sherefat Khan and Arjomand are among the most well-known 20th century Kirman designers.
