$22,000
This late 19th century Persian rug was made in Tabriz, the capital of the northwestern Iranian province of Azerbaijan, which for centuries has been the center of Persian culture and the most important weaving center in Persia.
The main field of the rug, rendered in deep cinnamon shade, carries a spacious lattice of palmettes, strap work and leafy floral vinery within a sand-colored tree and floral bouquet border. The composition is warm and balanced.
In addition to its artistic value, this antique Persian rug can boast of exceptional workmanship. It was carefully hand-knotted out of wool by a skilled artisan in accordance with traditional techniques. Thanks to such execution, this antique Persian rug still looks as if it was just taken down from the looms. If properly maintained, it will serve its owners foe generations without any signs of wear.
