$65,000
Craftsmen from the city of Tabriz are famed for their great talent. After all, Persian rugs they create are worthy of kings and some of them did found their way to various courts and palaces. Patterns of Tabriz rugs can feature not only traditional Persian motifs, but sometimes also fully-fledged reproductions of famous works of art. In general, antique Tabriz rugs are widely known to be extremely diverse, as they can range from flat to pile weaves. No wonder that so many art collectors are interested in owning one – each antique Tabriz rug has its own story to tell and waits to be discovered.
This stunning antique Tabriz rug was woven in the early 20th century, circa 1920. The beauty of its colors can be rivaled only by the elegance of pattern. The main field features a mosaic-like composition, containing scenes involving plants and animals. The whole is bordered by a skillfully designed frame. Color palette of this piece was composed using shades of beige, blue and green. However, a bit of black and brown used to give this antique Persian rug more depth allowed it to create a wonderful contrast between light and dark colors.
Doris Leslie Blau’s collection of antique rugs is filled with unique pieces of art, so we would like to encourage you to browse through them and see the beauty of antique Persian carpets for yourself.
