High-quality Indian Amritsar Hand Knotted Wool Carpet in Brown and Beige BB7460 6'8" × 15'3" $18,000
$18,000
Amritsar rugs are unique amidst the wide gamut of traditional Indian styles because weavers of Amritsar had not developed a distinctive style of rug making until the early 19th century – hundreds of years after other regions of India first developed their own weaving traditions. This early 20th century Indian Amritsar antique carpet (made circa 1900) is a beautiful example of the Amritsar craftsmanship. Its spacious sand field carries linked rows of small chocolate brown floral pendants within a series of chocolate and camel floral and geometric stripes. This color palette is versatile and ready to introduce warmth in a wide array of décors. Despite its old age, the antique rug looks as if it was just taken down from the looms thanks to excellent workmanship. It was carefully knotted by hand out of high-quality wool in accordance with traditional techniques – if properly maintained, the rug will withstand years of usage without the slightest signs of wear.
