One-of-a-kind Oversized Vintage Indian Rug BB7224 15'5" × 18'8" $130,000
$130,000
Antique Indian oversized area rugs are famed for their incredible depiction of lush nature and the one before your eyes is an excellent example of this exceptional style. Its vast field, teeming with greenery, takes us to an opulent garden of a mighty Raja where we can take an unhurried stroll throughout his hospitable manor. The central part of the antique area rug is covered with an allover trellis of flowering vinery and bold polychrome palmettes.
This richness is enclosed within discreet secondary borders with tiny flower heads and an elegant main border proudly bearing flowering climbers. The color palette was thoroughly selected to emphasize the palatial atmosphere of the composition. Warm caramel background of the main field carries beige and chocolate brown motifs with barely visible touches of pale azure, whereas the main border reverses the shades and takes dark brown as the setting for beige embellishments.
This magnificent creation was masterly hand-knotted of the finest wool in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan. Slightly differing coloration and various shades of hues within the north Indian rug are known as ‘Abrash’ and are caused by hand-spinning of wool and using natural dyes but it may also be an intentional creative effect or a personal expression of a weaver. It is a marker of quality which confirms that the antique carpet was entirely hand-made and has no artificial components. The indian rug burn will enrich any type of interior décor with its palatial glamour and vibrant, nature-related design.
