$4,000
India has a long weaving tradition and is especially famous for its beautiful textiles. You cannot find indian area rugs as fabulous as those made in India and local antique rugs are especially sought after due to their original patterns. Agra rugs were loved by both Indian rajahs and English gentry and when you see this antique carpet you will understand why.
Hand woven circa 1920 from highest quality Indian cotton, this exquisite piece is bound to make your house look special. It sports an interesting pattern, which seems almost modern – a proof that whoever wove this north Indian rug must had been thinking ahead of their time. The central field is composed of Moroccan clover with small stars in the center, bordered by a chain of delicate white flowers. The actual border of the pattern repeats the elements seen in the central field, but does it with such a skill that they seem brand new. The color palette is a rather traditional mix of pure white and deep indigo, a dye beloved in India.
